Project summary

This project aims to make Montreal feminist groups universally accessible. It brings together 24 groups in three cohorts to promote collective learning and the implementation of inclusive, anti-oppressive, and intersectional practices. It places the expertise of women and gender-diverse people with disabilities at the heart of the action. This collective project is led by three Montreal feminist groups (RAFSSS, TGFM, and TRCFMML).

MANDAT

The team in charge of the project is composed of two people responsible for coordination and community organization, who will carry out the following tasks:

  • Support three cohorts of eight feminist groups in their efforts to become universally accessible, including conducting exploratory visits, developing action plans, providing support in implementing actions, and writing reports.
  • Raise awareness, train, and provide tools regarding the needs and realities of women and gender-diverse people with disabilities, and support them in adopting inclusive, anti-oppressive, and intersectional internal practices.
  • Support the organization and implementation of joint awareness-raising actions on universal accessibility in the neighborhoods and activity sectors of the target groups.
  • Coordinate communications with partners and groups in line with the communication plan (calls for participation, invitations, newsletters, social media, etc.).
  • Mobilize experts with lived experience to support certain stages of the project and facilitate a non-mixed space for care, expression, and mobilization for women and gender-diverse people with disabilities.
  • Design, compile, adapt, and disseminate tools and training according to needs, including intersectional analysis grids on universal accessibility.
  • Manage project accountability, administrative follow-up, and documentation.
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate meetings, training sessions, and communities of practice with participating groups and partners.
  • Work in consultation with the five-member steering committee, including the two hired members of the project team and the three feminist groups (RAFSSS, TGFM, and TRCFMML).

About the groups behind the project

The Table des groupes de femmes de Montréal (TGFM) is a regional coalition that brings together feminist organizations to promote and defend the rights and interests of women in the Montreal area in all their diversity. The plurality of its members is one of its major strengths, with each member group bringing diverse experiences and perspectives from different sectors of activity. For more information: https://www.tgfm.org

The Table régionale des centres de femmes de Montréal Métropolitain et Laval (TRCFMML) is a coalition for consultation, support, and socio-political action that is essential to the region's network of women's centers. It aims to promote the philosophy of feminist intervention and strengthen solidarity among centers by encouraging exchange, reflection, and ongoing collaboration. By representing women's centers in decision-making bodies, the Table defends their common demands and actively contributes to improving women's living conditions. It takes a comprehensive approach focused on social justice, equality, and women's autonomy, while promoting their individual and collective power to act. Through its actions, the Table also helps increase the visibility of women's centers as essential resources for women in Montreal and Laval.

The Réseau d’action des femmes en santé et services sociaux (RAFSSS) is a regional coalition that brings together women’s groups in Montreal working in health and social services. The network promotes collaboration and contributes to feminist analysis of social issues in order to represent and empower its members. For more information: https://www.rafsss.org/
