Held every 5 years since 2000, the World March of Women (WMW) is an international feminist action movement bringing together grassroots groups and organizations working to eliminate the root causes of poverty and violence against women.
This page provides an update on what's coming up in Quebec and Montreal for the 6th edition in 2025!
🥾 Still marching to transform the world
The 6th edition of the World March of Women is officially launched! This year, we're mobilizing under the slogan Encore en marche pour transformer le monde.
We affirm our commitment to denounce:
- The continuum of violence against girls and women
- Poverty, a systemic violence
- Capitalism, responsible for the climate crisis and the collapse of biodiversity, endangering the health and lives of populations and future generations.
This year, we're marching for:
- The right of girls and women to live in peace and security
- The right to make free and informed choices
- A decent income guaranteeing women's economic autonomy
- Free and universal access to quality public services
- A healthy environment, respectful of biodiversity and communities
- A society based on feminist values, where the economy serves the living.
🔥 Visuals and merchandise
Maia Faddoul created the visual for the WMW 2025. The poster evokes:
A textile effect reminiscent of the quilt, symbolizing our history and the April 24 Feminist Solidarity Day.
Warm colors and touches of purple, representing our movement, our solidarity with indigenous struggles and our international network.
A wealth of symbols that invite us to imagine, dream and, above all, mobilize until the big rally on October 18.
The visual is available for use on your walls, social networks, emails, etc.
Toques bearing the WMW logo will soon be available to order, made by Petites Mains, one of our members. Stay tuned to place your order!
📅 Save the dates for the WMW
Quebec's key WMW gathering will take place on October 18, 2025 in Quebec City. All regions will converge for a grand march starting from the National Assembly. Transportation will be organized from Montreal and other regions. Between now and then, there are several other mobilization dates:
- Day of feminist solidarity against transnational corporations: April 24, 2025
- Celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the Du Pain et des Roses March: local marches from May 26 to June 4, and a gathering in Quebec City to celebrate the anniversary on June 7.
- National Day of Remembrance for Missing and Murdered Aboriginal Women, Girls and Two-Spirited People: October 4, 2025
The national mobilizations are coordinated by the Coordination du Québec de la Marche mondiale des femmes (CQMMF), a feminist group that fights for equality, against systemic discrimination and for the elimination of the causes of poverty and violence.
