For a Real Consideration of Women’s Experiences in Mental Health Services
Opinion on the Action Plan for Mental Health 2005-2010
The Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux’s ties are starting to lose their strength. The minister has very little to say about the specific experiences of women in the organization of health and social services. We have the right to ask: Is there a political will to intervene on the question of women's mental health? The minister, by all appearances, will continue with the creation of a second action plan. For the sake of others, we hope it will be approached differently.
In this opinion paper, the Political Action Committee on Health and Social Services of the Table des groupes de femmes de Montréal presents several analytical elements to help influence the considerations made by stakeholders involved in the development of this action plan. Priority must be given to the lived experiences of women struggling with mental health problems who use the services of the Réseau de la santé et des services sociaux.
